A Hero In My Eyes
A Hero In My Eyes was a project where we interviewed a family member we saw as a hero which is where the project title is from (A Hero In My Eyes). In this project we used Canva to make a news article styled writing piece based off of our persons interview. What I learned from this project was that this project was actually fun because in the beginning I thought it was just gonna be like all the other interviewing projects I’ve done at high tech but this one had something special about it that made this one better than the other projects I’ve done in the past.
Op-Ed Video Project
The Op-Ed video project was a the follow up project to the Op-Ed Argumentative project where we worked in groups of 4 or 5 and the teachers assigned us our groups and roles based on our answers to a survey about which role we wanted and which op-ed video we were interested in making. We used one of my friends Op-Ed's in inspiration of our video. Everyone in their video groups was given a role in their groups either being Director, Producer, Screenwriter, and Editor with me being picked as Director for the op-ed "Can you separate the art from the artist". Our video talked about Alfred Hitchcock, R Kelly, J.K Rowling, and Bassnecter and the bad things that they have done why our group thinks you can't separate art from them.
Counter Narratives T-shirts
Being Black is a big part of my identity. As a black person in America it means that I could be shot by the police just because “I fit the profile” of the person they are looking for and just for being accused of something I never did. My t-shirt is meant to represent how powerful and strong Black people can truly be. That Black people are all thugs and that Black people don’t have a say in what happens in our country. This dominant narrative is incorrect because everyone has a say in what goes on in this world. I used “Powerful” as my counter narrative because it shows how powerful black people can be in our community and in our world.

Writing Workshop Poem
The Writing Workshop poem was an assignment we did before the Slam Poem. We first watched three videos talking about people's stories that connect with them and wrote reflections about them and from there we started by picking out themes from those videos, we used them as a starting place to write out own poems. For my poem I decided to write about being Black during quarantine while all the protests and Black Lives Matter stances were going on. This piece is very important to me as a Black person that talks about my experience and how I personally felt during this time about this historical moments.
SLAM Poem
In this project we worked in groups of 3-5 to make a collaborative poem about a subject we all wanted to spread a message about. In my groups we chose to write our poem about racism and what it's like to be a person of our race. Before we started this project we practiced writing poems about something that we were passionate about based off of videos we watched prior.
